After graduating from Harrisburg High School and Harrisburg Area Community College, Mary worked for the Harrisburg Housing Authority and the City of Harrisburg’s Law Bureau. In 1990, she moved to Northern Virginia and began a 10-year career with the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) who helped fund the launch of DIRECTV’s satellite.
She rose in the NRTC ranks to become Customer Service Manager of the membership group that provided satellite TV programming to rural America. Mary transitioned to Bell Atlantic – now called Verizon -- in the same capacity as they rolled out DIRECTV to their subscribers. She was awarded the Presidential Award for her dedication and commitment to service. Her interest in telecommunications led to working with VeriSign.

Ashley Smith is a mother of 2 amazing teenagers. By day she’s an Account Executive for an insurance company.
She's an entrepreneur, the event creator and host of Small Business Saturday HBG, a local monthly market that showcases Small Businesses. It has become a platform for new and established businesses, specifically those black and brown businesses who are not as frequently showcased. To date almost 500 businesses have participated.
She is passionate about serving the community. Fun fact, Ashley visits other cities often to specifically support black owned businesses and often volunteers at other community events. Small Business Saturday takes place at Italian Lake and other Central Pa locations.
